Capital Expenditure Summary View

Last updated: July 31, 2025

Understanding Capital Expenditure (CapEx) is critical across all stages of techno-economic analysis (TEA) and project finance modeling (PFM). Whether assessing feasibility or preparing for investment, a clear view of CapEx is essential for evaluating project viability, guiding design decisions, and communicating with stakeholders.

The CapEx Summary View provides a structured breakdown of capital costs across all major components and cost categories. It helps users:

  • Understand how individual components contribute to total CapEx

  • Group and analyze costs by category (e.g., direct and indirect)

  • Identify cost drivers and areas of opportunity for cost optimization

The view includes KPI cards that surface key capital cost insights at a glance. These may include:

  • Total and subtotal values by category

  • Largest cost contributors

  • Normalized metrics (e.g., cost per unit of capacity or output)

View Configuration

In the current release, the CapEx Summary View is configured internally by a Forward-Deployed Engineer (FDE) during onboarding. The FDE works closely with the client to understand the model structure and ensure that all relevant cost terms are accurately represented in the view.
